Welsh Publication Makes Bold Claim Regarding Munster & Their Top Clubs

We’re pretty sure Munster fans will have a lot to say about this.

It wasn’t exactly the best of weekend’s for Wales’ leading regions. The Cardiff Blues were easily beaten by Gloucester, while 14-man Stade Francais comfortably beat Ospreys at the Principality, knocking both sides out of the Challenge Cup.

The Irish regions however were on fire this weekend, breezing past their opposition to secure spots in the semi-final stages of Europe’s premier club competition the Champions Cup. It seems the Welsh are pretty pissed off with how the weekend has gone and have bizarrely taken aim at Munster.

WalesOnline reporter Andy Howell reckons Munster’s squad is inferior to both Cardiff and the Ospreys, and that they are punching way above their weight.

But, when it comes to punching above their weight, nobody can compete with Munster. On paper, their squad is inferior to that of the Ospreys and the Blues.
Conor Murray, CJ Stander, Simon Zebo and Peter O’Mahony are fine players and Keith Earls is decent. But the likes of Dave Kilcoyne, Donnacha and John Ryan, Jaco Taute and Darren Sweetenham are hard workers and nothing more.
The Ospreys squad contains Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric, Rhys Webb, Dan Biggar, Sam Davies, Nicky Smith, Scott Baldwin, Dan Lydiate, Bradley Davies, Eli Walker, James King, Ashley Beck and emerging talents like Keelan Giles, Sam Underhill and Olly Cracknell.
Blues have the likes of Sam Warburton, Gethin Jenkins, Gareth Anscombe, Alex Cuthbert and Super Rugby winners Rey Lee-Lo and Willis Halaholo on their cast list.
Go through the Munster squad man for man and you won’t convince me it’s better than that of the Ospreys or Blues.

Really strange comments if you ask us. To say the likes of John Ryan, Dave Kilcoyne, Donnacha Ryan, Jaco Taute and Darren Sweetnam are nothing more than ‘hard workers’ is absolutely absurd. Keith Earls is also apparently just a ‘decent’ player.

Complete and utter nonsense.
