Watch: Wayne Barnes Brilliantly Explains The New Tackle Law Directives
We’ve only had one weekend so far to understand the new tackle directives, but it hasn’t been without controversy.
World Rugby last week officially introduced their new tackle directives to the game. After the first weekend of action, many of us were left puzzled by how it’s going to effect the game going forward, with a number of questionable incidents.
It began with Ulster’s Sean Reidy seeing yellow and conceding a penalty try against the Scarlets and continued throughout the weekend with a number of yellow and red cards that confused a lot of people watching.
World Rugby referee Wayne Barnes was a guest on BT Sport’s Rugby Tonight during the week and looked at each incident, giving us an honest breakdown and analysis of what we can expect going forward.
The Englishman gave an excellent account of himself, clearly explaining the reasoning behind each decision, in a clear and concise manner.
It’s an excellent insight, and well worth watching until the end.
