Watch: Warren Gatland Opens Up About Dropping BOD For Final Lions Test

It’s safe to say Ireland probably still hasn’t forgiven Warren Gatland.

The Lions boss’ decision to drop Brian O’Driscoll for the his final Lions Test match back in 2013 upset a lot of people. The final Test against Australia was supposed to be BOD’s final farewell in the famous Lions jersey.

The Ireland centre had given so much to the jersey over four amazing tours and it was felt at the time that Gatland was unfairly favouring his Welsh players. A Justice For BOD movement was even started.

Alas, the Lions smashed Australia in the end and Gatland’s decision was vindicated. Speaking about the now famous dropping, Gatland has come out to praise O’Driscoll for how he dealt with it in such a professional manner.

Gatland says he deserves enormous credit, and says it was a really tough decision, especially considering he was the man who handed O’Driscoll his first cap for Ireland back in 1999. Take a look below.
