Watch: Is This The Most Ridiculous Sin Bin We’ve Ever Seen In Rugby?

Sometimes you just have to draw the line.

Rugby has been undergoing a makeover in recent months, with yellow and red cards being handed out left, right and centre as a result of World Rugby deciding to clamp down on any contact with the head or neck.

We applaud and welcome it, as does pretty much everyone, but there has been some rather questionable decisions and a lack of clarity in a lot of instances and this latest example from the Top 14 proves that.

Referee’s have been told to focus on the outcome of the challenge, rather than the intent of the individual in question. That sounds fair enough, but at the same time you still have to look at it in a case by case situation as far as we’re concerned.

Delon Armitage was shown a yellow in Lyon’s encounter with Bordeaux Begles in the Top 14 this past weekend in rather questionable circumstances. The former England winger was sent to the sin bin after appearing to hand off Bordeaux’s Baptiste Serin. However upon closer inspection, both the TMO and referee agreed that Armitage led with his elbow.

Check it out below and let us know what you think. Will this kind of officiating ruin the game if it continues?
