This is why they signed him.
When Ulster announced they had signed Charles Piutau the rugby world was in shock. The Kiwi is considered one of the best in the world and left New Zealand while he was still very much in Steve Hansen’s All Blacks plans.
It’s easy to see why after his performance today in Ulster’s bonus-point win over Clermont at Kingspan. The fullback was in magnificent form throughout the game, and topped it off with a simply stunning try in the corner.
Tommy Bowe ran a wonderful decoy line that allowed Piutau to carve through the Clermont defence, gliding past two defenders, before finishing off with a monster hand-off. It was nothing short of world class from the former All Black.
Safe to say Stuart Barnes enjoyed it.
