Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.
The late, great Anthony Foley was immortalised last night as he was inducted into the RTE Sport Hall of Fame, following a truly poignant tribute video to the former Munster captain.
The video features touching words from Foley’s friends and teammates as they discuss just how much of profound effect he had on everyone around him. Foley was not only a great rugby figure, but a great man as well.
Brian O’Driscoll, Peter O’Mahony, Jerry Flannery and longtime friend, Mick Galwey can all be seen in the video, discussing Foley and how much he meant to them and the sport of rugby.
“He’s missed up here in Leinster, he’s missed throughout the country. He’s one of the greats that pulled on the green and the red jersey and we miss him,” Brian O’Driscoll said of his former teammate.
Axel was given a standing ovation by the crowd, before his sister and former Munster captain Rosie Foley accepted the RTÉ Sport Hall of Fame Award on her brother’s behalf.
