Warren Gatland Name Drops Likely Candidate For Lions Captaincy
Who will lead the British & Irish Lions on their almost impossible task to New Zealand next Summer?
Many names have been mentioned in recent weeks including the likes of 2013 tour captain Sam Warburton, England captain Dylan Harltey and the man who led the Lions during their thrid test demolition over Australia last time round, Alun Wyn Jones.
Warren Gatland will be the man to once again lead the Lions in 2017 and according to him, he may not may the only man revisiting his role in 2013, with Sam Warburton being named-dropped as a likely candidate to once again lead the Lions next summer by the Kiwi.
Speaking to the BBC, Gatland said:
“Obviously Sam’s one of the names in terms of a captain for the future, you know he’s had the experience of doing it in the past.”
He did however note that there are other names and that a big thing for him is picking a tour captain that will start the test games. Gatland didn’t rule out however, picking a tour captain and potentially a test captain when the times comes should he not make the squad for the games against New Zealand.
