Two Tries For The Returning JJ Hanrahan As Munster Secure BP Win Over Cardiff Blues

Not a bad way to mark your return.

Munster bounced back from last week’s capitulation against Glasgow, with an impressive bonus-point win over the Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park this afternoon.

Lions tourists Peter O’Mahony, CJ Stander and Conor Murray all started the game. Murray grabbed a try early in the first-half, but Munster were forced to work hard in the first-half, with Cardiff going in leading 16-13 at the break.

The second-half began with almost 10 minutes of a scrummaging masterclass from the men in red, with Cardiff conceding 6 penalties, losing tighthead Taufa’ao Filise to the bin in the process.

Incredibly referee Quinton Immelman did not award a penalty try, but Munster were soon rewarded as John Ryan crashed over. JJ Hanrahan then came off the bench, making an instant impact as he combined with Rory Scannell for a wonderful score.

Robin Copeland then secured the bonus-point thanks to an excellent sniping run by Murray up the touchline, before Hanrahan grabbed his second to put the game to bed. Ian Keatley was named MOTM after an excellent performance.

Full-time: Munster 39-16 Cardiff Blues
