This Statistic Shows Why Munster Have Been So Impressive In Europe This Year

Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber are doing a hell of a job with Munster this year.

The two-time European champions are on one of their best runs in recent memory and when the competition returns in April, have a home quarter final to look forward to.

At the beginning of the season if you said Munster would be in this kind of position heading into the Six Nations break, you would have been told you’re off your rocker. Nienaber and Erasmus deserve huge credit for the job they’ve done with the province in such a short period of time.

One element of Munster’s play that has been hugely impressive is Nienaber’s work with the defence. The southern province boast the best record in the PRO12 and more importantly in Europe too.

Munster have conceded just four tries in six pool games this campaign, boasting a better record than any of the other quarter finalists. It comes as no surprise considering the Sharks boasted the best defensive record from 2010-2013 with Nienaber at the helm.

He certainly know what he’s doing and the province will no doubt be hoping they can stave off interest from the Springboks and retain the duo at Munster for many years to come.
