The First Man In The Irish Rugby Gym Every Morning Probably Won’t Surprise You
Hard work and dedication will always pay off.
Ireland prop Tadhg Furlong was speaking to the press ahead of Ireland’s Six Nations clash with Wales this weekend and revealed who the first player in the gym is in every morning, and it probably won’t surprise you.
That man is Ireland workhorse Jamie Heaslip. The ever-present number eight is set to start his 100th Test match this weekend, having played 94 times for Ireland along with another 5 for the British & Irish Lions. Heaslip’s unbelievable conditioning has made him one of Ireland’s longest-serving and most durable stars.
“The amount of games he plays is a testament to the man,” says Furlong.
“The work he does off the pitch is absolutely crazy, I walked into the gym at quarter to eight this morning and he was already finishing up a session after doing his mobility and doing his switch-on work for the pitch.
“The work-rate he has off the pitch in getting his body right and doing his little skill sessions, just shows the type of man he is and what kind of leader he is for the team.”
One of Ireland’s most underrated players. There’s absolutely no doubt he will become a centurion with the national side and he can chalk it down to some serious hard work and conditioning.
