Learning from the best.
European rugby returns next weekend and it promises to be one of the most exciting campaigns in recent memory, thanks to this summers British & Irish Lions tour.
Peter O’Mahony captained the Lions in the first Test this summer and spoke to the Left Wing about his experience. Interestingly he noted that he had no problem telling the likes of the Saracens players what he was doing with Munster and Ireland and vice-versa.
Heading into this year’s campaign, it should make for some exciting match-ups as the players will no so much more about their opposition, with the Lions able to give them a really detailed insight. It will also of course, have made them much better players.
“You get to see what some of the best clubs and countries in the world are doing.” O’Mahony said.
“I’d no problem chatting away to Saracens and telling them what we were doing, they were very forthcoming in the stuff that they were at. I suppose you all learn and you have to soak these things up and get better and improve.”
“You have to keep learning and it’s a great place to learn when you’re around guys as good as that and playing at that level for so long.”
