The Aviva Premiership’s Highest Earners Revealed
Manu Tuilagi’s new Leicester contract makes him the highest paid player in the Premiership.
Following Worcester’s reported £1.5m three-year offer to Tuilagi, Leicester were left with no choice if they wanted to keep their star man. The deal is expected to have a massive knock-on effect in the Premiership.
This year Premiership Rugby Chief Executive, Mark McCafferty, outlined the new salary cap regulations that will come into effect from next season.
McCafferty announced that the Premiership would increase it’s salary cap by £1.5 million over the next two seasons.
The new regulations will to come into effect at the beginning of the 2016/17 season and clubs have already began to invest their new funds.
French international number 8 Louis Picamoles has already been attracted to Northampton Saints from Toulouse next season along with the likes of Matt Toomua and Jean de Villiers to Leicester and Rhys Priestland to Bath,

The market has exploded since the salary cap announcement. When it comes to salaries, £300,000 is the new £200,000. Every out-of-contract player is aware of the extra allowance and the top boys are inevitably going to push their luck.
