Tadhg Furlong’s Lions Teammates Have Come Up With A New Name For Him

Introducing Tad Furlong.

Tadhg Furlong’s Lions teammates have been having a bit of trouble with trying to pronounce his name. To be fair if you’re not from Ireland and you see the name Tadhg written down, you’d be forgiven if you struggled to pronounce it.

For those of you who aren’t from Ireland take the r away from Tiger and you’ve got it. Some of the players have been up front and asked Furlong how to pronounce it, while others have gone for the classic well ‘big fella.’

“The lads are busy enough at the minute just trying to get my name right.” Furlong said at a Lions media event today.

“Sure it depends [what they are calling me]. Some of the lads are up front and ask me how I pronounce it. Others will just say, ‘How are ya big fella!’

The players that have attempted at pronouncing it have failed miserably. As a result, they’ve commonly resorted to calling him Tad.

“Some of the lads make bad attempts like ‘Tadge’, ‘Tog’, ‘Tad’. Tad has properly been the most common, I’d say.”

Tad Furlong. We’re not quite sure what to make of that. We prefer his old nickname from the Irish U-20s set-up.
