Tadhg Furlong On The Brilliant Camaraderie Between The Tightheads At Lions Camp

Tadhg Furlong has had an incredible season.

The Wexford man barged onto the scene (literally) back in November for Ireland agains the All Blacks and Australia. He followed that up with an impressive European campaign and his first Six Nations with Ireland.

He impressed as one of the best props in the Six Nations and was rewarded with a Lions call-up along with fellow tightheads Kyle Sinckler and Dan Cole. It’s been a miraculous rise, but Furlong remains grounded.

And while the three lads will be battling it out for one Test spot, they’ve been getting on like a house on fire already.

I find Dan Cole hilarious, he has a dry sense of humour – he is quite witty. So around the dinner table and the hanging around the place he has been very funny.” Furlong said
“Tighthead props, you are very rarely going to play the full 80 minutes so there is no holding back information. We are there to better the squad, more often than not it is a 50-30 or 60-20 split so you have to be open and honest about it and get on with it.”
“But you learn and the standard is really high and the quality of players is excellent, you can feel yourself improving and getting better. Everyone is working hard for the cause, a lot of work under the belt this week and I’m feeling good for it now.
“You are around some of the best players in Britain and Ireland so everyone wants to set their stall out here.”

As honest as you like. He’ll make a fine Lion.
