Super Rugby Captain Set To Turn Back On All Blacks & Declare For England

Eddie Jones might be about to bolster his options ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Shields, who captained the Hurricanes against the All Blacks this summer, can play at number 8, or blindside flanker. His contract is up next summer, and he has been offered to Premiership clubs for for upwards of £350,000 per year according to the Daily Mail.

Shields has an English passport through his parents so would be eligible immediately if he moves next summer, with one director of rugby claiming he would stand a ‘very good’ chance of Test selection.

The Hurricanes star has been on the fringes of All Blacks selection for some time, and has now set his sights on the Rugby World Cup and could push for the switch if he does not feature during the November series.
