Stephen Ferris On Whether Ireland Can Defeat The All Blacks In Chicago Or Not
Ireland face one of their most difficult tasks in recent years this weekend in the shape of the in-form All Blacks.
Steve Hansen’s men have been on a devastating warpath in the last year on their way to the 2015 Rugby World Cup and 2016 Rugby Championship, remaining undefeated all the way, racking up a test record.
It will be no easy feat and many people have written their chances off, before the game has even begun. One player who believes, while anything can happen in rugby, Ireland just won’t have enough this weekend is former flanker Stephen Ferris.
“It’s an intriguing match, one that everyone is looking forward to,” the former Ulster and Ireland man said yesterday.
“There’s going to be a good Irish contingent out there supporting the lads and hopefully they can put in a good performance because they’ve been thrown together.
“They’ve been playing for their provinces the last couple of weeks, they haven’t had much time together and the New Zealand lads have been playing for the last six weeks or eight weeks maybe and it’s going to be tough.
“We’re Irish we always have a chance. Any team always has a chance of winning but what is it 18 win on the bounce, do I think it’s going to be 19? Yes I do think it’s going to be 19 but I think they can put in a performance and build on it for the next couple of weeks.”
Is Ferris right? Will the All Blacks just be too much for Joe Schmidt’s men this weekend at Soldier Field? We sure hope not.
