Racing 92 and Stade Francais are set to merge next season in one of the most extraordinary developments in the history of the professional game. The two French giants, who are both based in Paris are to become one club, pooling all their huge resources together in a simply astonishing turn of events.
The Stade Francais players, coaches and staff were incredibly informed of the news this morning following a club meeting according to one of their stars who has asked not to be named.
Now lock Paul Gabrillagues has taken to Facebook to reveal his disappointment at the shocking news, stating that it is not a merger, but rather a takeover by Racing.
“It’s not a merger, it’s a takeover of Stade Français by Racing… so the death of our club, the club of Paris. I pitch to this masquerade. Show yourselves and show that we are many to love this club,”
French sports publication, L’Equipe, is also reporting that the players may go on strike ahead of their upcoming clash against Castres.
According to @lequipe Pascal Pape was particularly upset when the news was announced. Paper says SF may strike instead of playing Castres
