Well said.
Sean O’Brien hit the headlines over the last few days after his comments on Off The Ball about the Lions tour summer and the failings of Warren Gatland and his coaching team.
The back-row, who starred in all three Tests, believes the Lions should have won the series comfortably, but overtrained ahead of the first and third Tests. He feels the coaching team panicked, and was particularly hard on attack coach Rob Howley.
His comments have drawn mixed views. Some have applauded him for speaking his mind, while others are disappointed with his outburst. As a result, O’Brien has decided to come out with a statement explaining his comments, which he says were genuine and honest.
He stands by what he said, and says he has nothing but respect for Gatland and the coaches. But he feels by speaking his mind and raising the issues, it will only benefit future Lions tours.
