Scans Reveal Johnny Sexton Played Third Lions Test With Serious Injury

Who said Sexton is soft?

Johnny Sexton played the third Test against the All Blacks with a broken wrist. Scans have revealed the full extent of the injury which he picked up in the 2nd Test in Wellington.

The Irish playmaker came into the game at Eden Park with a fractured wrist, before rupturing a tendon in his ankle during the opening half of the decider in Auckland, the Irish Independent are reporting.

After the 15-all draw, he underwent scans that revealed a broken bone in his arm. Despite his injuries, the 31-year-old played on before being withdrawn with only seven minutes of the final Test left to be played.

The good news however is his ankle does not require surgery and his wrist should be healed in time for the new season.
