Saracens Complete Signing Of Wallabies Lock
Champions Cup and Aviva Premiership holders, Saracens have completed the signing of Australian international Will Skelton.
The 24-year-old Wallaby lock will join the Premiership side on a short-term loan deal with immediate effect, although the length of his stay with the north London club hasn’t been specified.
The monster 6ft 8in, 22 stone lock signs from Super Rugby side the Waratahs as Saracen’s look to bolster their options in the second-row department, with the likes of George Kruis and Maro Itoje set to be gone on Six Nations duty come February.
“We’re delighted to be able to bring a player of Will’s calibre into the group. He is an immensely talented rugby player with vast experience for a 24-year old tight-five forward,” said Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall.
“It’s no secret that we have been running low on a few bodies in the second-row department but we made it very clear that we wouldn’t compromise on quality when looking to add to our squad. In Will, we have a player who will certainly have an important role to play in our group over the next few months.”
Skelton has 18 caps for the Wallabies and joins Saracens ahead of their Champions Cup clash with Sale following the loss of Alistair Hargreaves to retirement, earlier this year.
