Roy Keane Gave A Couple Of Lions A Vintage Prediction Ahead Of The 2005 Tour Of NZ

As blunt and honest as you like.

Roy Keane isn’t one to mince his words. The outspoke footballer, turned coach is renowned for speaking his mind and if you ask him his opinion on something, he certainly won’t sugarcoat his response.

Shane Horgan and Lawrence Dallaglio bumped into the Irishman ahead of the Lions tour of New Zealand back in 2005, and asked him how does he think they’ll get on against the mighty All Blacks, his response was typical and he was bang on the money with his prediction.

They told the Sunday Times:

Shane Horgan: Before we left for New Zealand, we were staying in the same hotel in Wales as the Manchester United team, who were there for the FA Cup final against Arsenal.”

“We fell in with some of the players, and asked Roy Keane what he thought our chances were…”

Lawrence Dallaglio: “‘3-0 to New Zealand, you’re gonna get smashed.”‘ Part of me knew what he was saying was true but it’s one thing thinking it, it’s another to be so blunt in saying it.

Shane Horgan: There’s a social convention where you tone down that kind of thing but he was in full Roy mode. It wasn’t very inspiring.”

Any predictions for next week Roy?
