Now that history has finally been made, it’s time to focus attention on Canada.

Ireland made history this past weekend against New Zealand, finally defeating the mighty All Blacks after 111 years of trying but it’s now time to shift focus onto this weekend’s opponents, Canada.

The famous win over Steve Hansen’s side will live long in the memory, but Joe Schmidt must now prepare for a three-test Guinness series at the Aviva which features World Cup opponents Canada, a return fixture with the All Blacks and all important test game with Australia, which could see Ireland finally achieve a grand slam over the holy trinity.

Schmidt is expected to ring the changes against Canada, with not one player from the starting XV in Chicago set to make the team this weekend. Sean O’Brien and Peter O’Mahony are expected to make their long awaited returns, while there’s also comebacks for the likes of Keith Earls and Iain Henderson.

Here’s the predicted Ireland XV according to several leading media outlets.

15. Tiernan O’Halloran
14. Keith Earls
13. Garry Ringrose
12. Luke Marshall
11. Craig Gilroy
10. Paddy Jackson
9. Kieran Marmion

1. Cian Healy
2. Sean Cronin
3. Finlay Bealham
4. Ultan Dillane
5. Iain Henderson
6. Peter O’Mahony (c)
7. Josh van der Flier
8. Sean O’Brien

What do you think of this selection? Should Schmidt give more of the inexperienced players a shot, or has he struck the right balance?
