Revealed: The All Blacks Matchday Diet Is Absolutely Insane

allsavea

The All Blacks are on a pretty decent run at the moment.

The back to back world champions are one victory short from equalling a world record for most consecutive Test match wins with only the Springboks this weekend, standing in their way.

Should they equal the record, Joe Schmidt’s Ireland stand in their way if they wish to beat it. New Zealand face Ireland twice as well as Conor O’Shea’s Italy in a busy November that could see them come out with 20 consecutive test wins.

As we all know, diet is key in any sport and the it’s now been revealed what the world champions consume before any game and it’s absolutely insane. All Blacks, Kat Darry says the squad will consume a lot of ‘healthy fat’, such as peanut butter and coconut oils, and operate in a ‘low-sugar environment’.

Here is what your average All Black consumes on matchday:

BREAKFAST: Peanut butter on toast and roasted tomatoes. Omelette with egg whites, butter and coconut oil mixed in. Simple greens like spinach and a half an avocado. Fresh fruit including oranges and bananas (for their potassium content).

LUNCH: Lean chicken, rice, pasta and sweet potatoes eaten at least three hours before warm ups.

PRE-MATCH: Porridge with bananas, almond butter and honey. Water and some salts/nitrate supplements probably encouraged.

POST-MATCH: Nuts and nut butters, fluids and simple fruits. Shake with whey protein, bananas and walnuts.

DINNER: Red meats including steak, lamb chops and ribs. Green vegetables including spinach, guacamole and brussel sprouts, and sweet potatoes.
