“People expect us to get a result. There is a pressure on us to perform now.”

Munster’s impressive form of late is increasing the pressure on the players to deliver winning performances, according to their Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus. The Munster boss however is says they are realistic in what they can achieve.

This time last year Munster were already out of the Champions Cup and struggling to keep chase with the pack in the PRO12. Fast forward twelve months and Munster have lost just once in 11 games, winning ten and sit at the top of the PRO12 and their Champions Cup pool.

This weekend’s top of the table clash with Glasgow will be a cup final, and Erasmus knows it. You can be damn sure that whatever happens however, the Munster fans will be proud with how far their province has come this season.

“People expect us to get a result. There is a pressure on us to perform now.” Erasmus said.

“We are realistic as to what we can achieve but we also know that many of the challenges ahead will be tough.

On the challenge Glasgow will bring and the difficulty of playing on a 4G pitch, Erasmus had this to say:

“Glasgow are doing really well and have beaten Racing home and away.

“They have got all their international players back and have a really good coaching staff. Conditions are set to be cold and wet. It’s a massive challenge for us to away from home to try and win the pool.

It’s doable, but very tough to do.

“We will practice on their 4G pitch and have a little run around mainly for the forwards in scrummaging.

“It’s a pretty good surface even though the ball bounces a little differently. There is no reason why we should look at the surface as something that should be against us

This Saturday promises to be a cracker, and we for one, cannot wait.
