This weekend’s clash between Munster and Racing 92 is going to be a very special affair.

The game marks the first time Munster travel back to Paris following the untimely death of their former captain and head coach, Anthony Foley. The Killaloe native was found dead in his hotel room just hours before kick-off with the game postponed as a mark of respect.

The time is now almost upon us for the rescheduled fixture, with the sides set to go head to head tomorrow afternoon in Paris. We’ve already seen the Racing 92 fans amazing gestures with the fans offering to house the Munster fans in Paris as a result of the cost of travelling for a second time in a matter of month.

The club has also arranged a guard of honour for both teams as they arrive in conjunction with the Munster Rugby Supporters Club, but now it’s Racing’s turn as a club. Racing’s players will wear red t-shirts with Foley’s name for their warm-up, while in the stands, fans will display two banners.

One of the banner will simply read ‘Axel’, while the other will say ‘Red Army welcome back’. To top it off, Racing will also release red smoke from pitch-side during the minute’s applause for the late, great, number eight.

Saturday is going to be a very special day for all involved.
