Premiership Rugby Issues Statement Following Brexit Vote
Safe to say we didn’t see this coming.
When the polls had closed last at 10 pm last night, it appeared the remain campaign would win the Brexit referendum. Some bookmakers even shortened the odds of a remain victory to 10/1 on.
How this will effect sport in Britain has been much debated. The decision to leave the European Union could have serious knock on consequences for the English Premiership. Premiership Rugby, like every other organisation in Britain, will now have to adapt to the circumstances in which they now find themselves.
As a result, it did not come as a surprise to see the Premiership’s governing body issue a statement this afternoon telling fans that a ‘review of the regulations pertinent to foreign players will take place in due course’.
