Glasgow Warriors’ opening European Champions Cup match against Racing Metro Paris has been postponed after the terror attacks on the French capital last night.

The match had been due to be played this afternoon at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Colombes outside Paris.

The Glasgow team had travelled to Paris on Saturday. “We’re all safe in our team hotel on the outskirts of Paris,” a team spokesman said.

Earlier, the club had appealed directly to supporters not to attempt to travel to the French capital, which was in a state of lockdown after the attacks. All sporting events in the Paris region were due to be postponed this weekend as the authorities attempted to restore order in the wake of the attacks.

Around 140 people are feared dead and many more injured following a series of bomb blasts in the city, including one outside the Stade de France – home of the French rugby and football teams.
