One Of Ireland’s Most Famous Stadiums Is Being Considered For A Champions Cup Semi

This would be unbelievable.

We were present the last time Croke Park hosted a European semi-final back in 2009, and it was one of the most magical atmospheres we have ever experienced. It now looks like we could see a repeat in 2017, if all goes according to plan.

Leinster and Munster have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, and should they both win this weekend, will both end up with home quarter finals. Connacht need a win against Toulouse this weekend to qualify.

Should any two of these three teams end up facing each other in the semi this year, Croke Park is once again looking as a likely venue.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mail, EPCR chairman Simon Halliday believes it would be a wonderful idea.

It is very interesting and I certainly think that we should go for the best possible solution.

If you have an all-Irish semi-final and we knew there was demand for the type of crowd that would fill Croke Park, why wouldn’t we?

I must tell you I haven’t investigated it yet, but it certainly is an amazing place. If we could I think it would be a wonderful thing.

Now here’s hoping the Irish provinces progress!
