Nigel Owens has no doubt seen some strange things on a rugby pitch over the years.
The Welsh official has been plying his trade for the best part of 20+ years now at this stage, and is widely regarded as one of, if not the very best referee the game has ever seen.
Owens is also a brilliant character and has given us some wonderful stories over the years. This one might just be his best yet.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Owens recalls a story of him referring a game in Wales some twenty years ago. A player on one of the teams asks Owens to let him know when there’s only five minutes left in the game…
Owens couldn’t quite understand why he was asking, but of course duly obliged. What ensued was bloody hilarious.
