Munster Rugby Announce Two New Signings
Munster have bolstered their squad for the 2016-17 season with the signings of lock Darren O’Shea and prop John Andress.
Andress, who has been capped by Ireland at U21 and ‘A’ levels, will make the move over from Guinness Pro12 rivals Edinburgh on a one-year deal, starting in July. The 32-year-old had spells with the Exeter Chiefs, Worcester and Harlequins before moving to Scotland in 2014 – he has gone on to make 48 appearances for Edinburgh.
For O’Shea, the signing marks a return to the province after he came through the Munster academy system. The 23-year-old joined Worcester at the start of 2014-15 and has gone on to play 27 times for the club promoted to the Aviva Premiership at the end of last season. Before his move to England, O’Shea represented the Munster ‘A’ team in the British and Irish Cup.
Munster have also confirmed that lock Mark Chisholm will not play again this season after suffering a concussion.
The Australian was injured against the Newport Gwent Dragons earlier this month and Munster’s medical team has confirmed the 34-year-old needs an extended break from the sport.
