Munster are reportedly furious with the IRFU with their decision to not offer the lock a central contract.
The veteran lock is now poised to make a move to French giants Racing 92 on a two-year deal worth a reported €300,000 a year, according to The42
The issuing of central contracts lies in the control of the IRFU’s high performance director David Nucifora and the Irish Independent understands that the union cited Ryan’s age as the main reason not to renew his deal.
This is despite the fact that Leinster back-row Jamie Heaslip recently cited a new central contract, despite being just four days younger than Ryan.
Munster offered Ryan a contract which was shy of what the IRFU could have put on the table.
