Munster Have Just Received A Massive Jaco Taute Boost
Things are looking good.
Jaco Taute has been an instant hit with Munster fans and such a revelation that Rassie Erasmus has come out and said he will do everything in his power to hold onto the South African beyond his current deal.
The centre, who initially came in as a short-term injury replacement for Francis Saili, has been in phenomenal form since his arrival, scoring a plethora of tries and becoming a key part of Munster’s recent revolution.
The problem however is whether or not Ireland and Taute’s club the Stormers will indeed allow him to stay on. One man who seems to hold the power in these cases is David Nucifora, Ireland’s High Performance Director.
Much has been said of Ireland’s policy and how if they allow Taute to stay, it sets a bad precedent as they have already told Ulster that Ruan Pienaar must leave. Consistency is key and Nucifora has today sat down with RTE’s Michael Corcoran to clarify the union’s position.
Francis is back [in action] shortly. We’ll sit and look at the scenarios that exist down in Munster.
If there isn’t room for Jaco then, unfortunately, he’d have to leave and go back.
Western Province may call him back… we’e not in full control of this… We’ll see how this pans out,” said Nucifora.
The good news however is the Limerick Post are reporting that Taute has indeed been released by the Stormers and all that stands in Munster’s way now is the IRFU and David Nucifora. Let’s hope they’re feeling festive and grant every Munster fan in the country the Christmas present they’ve all been waiting for.
Hat-tip to our pals over in Munster Haka for spotting this.
