Munster have their man.
The Springboks’ assistant coach Johann van Graan will succeed Rassie Erasmus as the Munster Director of Rugby according to a report in the The Irish Times this morning. The southern province have been linked with former Force coach Dave Wessels, but he has opted to take over at the Melbourne Rebels.
Gerry Thornley has learned that van Graan, who formerly worked with the Bulls and is currently coaching the Springboks’ forwards, will link up with Munster after the conclusion of the Rugby Championship.
Van Graan is said to be highly rated in South Africa, and has been linked with tops jobs at Bath and Bulls in the last year or so. Erasmus will stay on until the end of the year and work alongside van Graan to ensure the switchover is as smooth as possible.
