Ireland prop Marty Moore has been discharged from hospital after suffering a worrying neck injury in Wasps’ Premiership win against Newcastle Falcons on Sunday.

The former Leinster man Moore was taken off on a stretcher after a scrum collapse at the Ricoh Arena. The game was delayed for 12 minutes as the 25-year-old received treatment on the pitch.

He was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but Wasps later said he’d been released. He will continue to be monitored by club doctors.

“Marty has been discharged from hospital, having been referred for scans as a precautionary measure,” a statement on the club website read.

“The CT scans of his neck were clear and he has since returned home. Marty will follow up with Wasps medical staff on Monday morning to assess his progress.”

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young heaped praise on Moore last month, backing him to return to Joe Schmidt’s Ireland setup, though he was not named in the panel for the upcoming November Internationals.
