Lions Players Pay Tribute As Stuart Hogg Forced To Fly Home With Unfortunate Injury

Such a shame.

Stuart Hogg said his goodbyes today as he prepares for a long flight back to Scotland after picking up an unfortunate injury on Saturday while playing the Crusaders.

The talented fullback accidentally ran into teammate Conor Murray’s elbow, fracturing his cheekbone and picking up a nasty black eye. Specialists told him if he played another game with the injury, he was in danger of losing his sight.

It’s a real pity as the back-to-back Six Nations Player of the Championship never really got off the ground in New Zealand. He, as many others did, struggled against the Provincial Barbarians with jetlag, and only appeared for a brief cameo against the Crusaders.

Hogg was nailed on by many as the Test fullback before the tour, and to not see him reach the level we all know he is capable of is disappointing. In the wake of his departure a number of his teammates have been paying tribute on social media.
