Legendary Ireland International Says This Season Will Be His Last

End of an era.

Legendary former Ireland and Munster lock Donncha O’Callaghan has admitted that this season will be his last as he gets set to retire from the professional game.

O’Callaghan, who will be 39 in March, was made Worcester captain this season. While he’s happy to continue playing and feels he can, he says it’s time he hung his boots up and concentrated on being a father.

“I’m ok with my own sacrifices that I make, but now my family are making an awful lot” O’Callaghan told BT Sport.
“You’ve to realise that there’s a point between personal sacrifice and selfishness, and I think I’m tipping into one of those.”
“So I think the end of the season will be where I’m at, and getting back and being a proper dad for a while.”

O’Callaghan played 268 times for Munster as well as earning 94 caps with Munster, lifting two Heineken Cup and a Grand Slam among others along the way in a hugely decorated career.
