IRFU Set To Unveil All-Ireland Rugby World Cup Bid Tomorrow

THE IRFU IS set to announce an All-Ireland bid for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in conjunction with the Irish Government and the Northern Ireland Executive tomorrow.

IRFU CEO Philip Browne, along with politicians north and south, will be in attendance for what is officially being called a “major sports announcement” to take place in the Royal School, Armagh on Friday morning.

While no potential stadiums have been flagged as yet, it is believed several GAA venues across all four provinces will be used.

At their Congress in 2013, the GAA approved use of their grounds for use a future Rugby World Cup bid.

Earlier this year, Hugo MacNeil launched an All-Ireland consultation process to examine the feasibility of hosting the event.
