Ireland Back Emerges As Doubt For Summer Tour After Picking Up Ankle Injury
Stuart Olding has emerged as a doubt for Ireland’s summer tour of USA and Japan.
The Ulster centre picked up an ankle injury just seconds after coming off the bench this past weekend against Ospreys. The province have confirmed that the 24-year-old will see a specialist today following an ankle injury.
Ulster have described the issue as “significant” and said that the specialist visit today will allow Olding and the province to decide on further management of the injury. It’s the latest in a series of disappointing injuries for Olding, who last played for Ireland on their tour of South Africa last summer.
Olding will definitely miss Ulster’s final game of the season against Leinster in the Guinness Pro12 at Kingspan Stadium on Saturday.
The good news for Ulster fans is Ruan Pienaar is expected to overcome a back spasm issue to feature in what will be his final game for the province before a summer move to Top 14 side Montpellier.
