Ireland’s dream of winning the Six Nations is over, but there’s still a hell of a lot to play for.
England will descend upon Dublin this weekend, knowing they can create history with a win over their Irish counterparts.
A win for Eddie Jones’ side will secure a second successive Grand Slam title, beating the All Blacks unbeaten Test record in the process. Ireland on the other hand must win to ensure they stay among the elite in the world rankings ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2019 pool draw.
There’s also the added factor of spoiling the old enemy’s party which should be motivation enough for Joe Schmidt’s men. That being said we don’t expect wholesale changes, but we do feel some neccessary changes have to be made in order to improve on Friday’s disappointing loss.
Realistically we reckon at most Schmidt will make one change and that’s bring in Peter O’Mahony. Who he drops is anyone’s guess, but something has to give in order to get the Munster captain into the starting line-up.
If it were up to us we’d also make two more changes in the starting line-up and they are Jared Payne in at fullback for Rob Kearney and Iain Henderson in for Leinster lock Devin Toner.
Unfortunately it’s not up to us and we probably have a better chance of winning tonight’s €80m Euromillion’s jackpot than see Schmidt drop three Leinster players. Regardless here’s the side we’d think would have every chance of spoiling the English party.
