Legendary flanker and French captain Thierry Dusautoir announced his retirement from international rugby last night.
Midi Olympique have reported that new France coach, Guy Noves, has moved quickly to find a new captain in the absence of Dusautoir.
The French rugby publication have claimed that Noves was not surprised by Dusautoir’s decision to retire, having discussed the possibility of such a scenario with his assistant, Yannick Bru, upon taking the job.
At that meeting Bru and Noves created a shortlist of potential candidates including, Yoan Maestri of Toulouse, Montpellier’s Fulgence Ouedraogo, Clermont’s Damien Chouly and Racing’s Dimitri Szarzewski. However Noves finally settled on Toulon hooker, Guilhem Guirado, to lead France into the Six Nations.
