England Set To Be Without Another Back-Row Star For Wales Clash

England’s injury problems in the back-row have taken another turn for the worst.

Eddie Jones faces the prospect of fielding a rookie back row against Wales after Tom Wood became a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff because of a shoulder problem.

England’s lack of experience in the back-row was evident against France, and this latest worry could be crucial in deciding the tie.

Wood has been unable to train this week due to the injury sustained in the 19-16 victory over France and while he is currently present among the forwards retained for the Principality Stadium showdown, his fitness is not assured.

If Wood is forced to withdraw, Jack Clifford is the likely starter at openside, with Maro Itoje and Nathan Hughes continuing at blindside and No. 8 respectively.
