Paul O’Connell isn’t the only man finishing up with Ireland.

The man who built Ireland’s defence is moving on after seven years and three Championship wins.

Originally announced this time last year, Ireland assistant coach Les Kiss will return to his role as director of rugby with Ulster. The IRFU believes that the experience and expertise provided by Les Kiss post-RWC 2015 will aid the coaching group at Ulster and will also help to develop players.

It will be incredibly annoying for Kiss that he bows out of his seven-year stint in charge of the green wall having watched it get smashed to bits against Argentina. His overall reign has been praised by many, having built a solid defensive foundation for Ireland during his tenure.

The Australian will be extremely hard to replace when Joe Schmidt and David Nucifora do sit down to make an appointment.
