Eddie Jones Loses England Coach To Top 14 Side

A blow for Eddie Jones.

England skills coach Rory Teague has agreed to join Top 14 club Bordeaux-Bègles on a three-year deal as backs coach ahead of next season.

Teague joined the England set-up as full-time skills ahead of this year’s Six Nations, with England winning their second straight championship.

“Rory’s come up from the 20s and he’ll be full-time with us,” Jones said. “He’s a good, young coach. He’s inquisitive, curious, wants to get better and therefore he can play a key role for us in improving the skills of the players.” England head coach Eddie Jones said at the time of his appointment.

The 32-year-old had been widely praised for his input with England, having previously worked with the U20 side and before that with current European champions Saracens.

Teague will work under former Italy boss Jacques Brunel at Bordeaux, who is taking over from Raphaël Ibanez. Former Ireland lock Jeremy Davidson will also link up with the French side next year as forwards coach.
