Eddie Jones Explains The Difference Between Football Players & Rugby Players
England football captain was recently pictured at 5.30am drunk, still wearing his England tracksuit.
The England captain was snapped gatecrashing a wedding party, almost too drunk to stand. The incident has since called into question his leadership of the squad and more importantly the culture that exists within England’s football teams’s dressing room.
Rugby boss Eddie Jones was asked about the incident today as he spoke to reporters to let them know he was delaying his team announcement for this weekend’s game with Fiji, due to a number of injury concerns.
Jones explained he does not need to police his team when it comes to drinking, as they are adults, and if the time ever comes where he needs to enforce a curfew, then they will no longer have a leadership group within the team.
They are adults. The guys will come back, have a beer and decide when they go to bed. The time we have a curfew is the time we don’t have a leadership group in the team.
Captain Dylan Hartley, echoed his coaches opinion, stating that personal responsibility is key,
As soon as we start making rules we have an issue. It is about individual responsibility. I’m not sure about other teams but that’s what we do here.
England take on Fiji this weekend and you can be pretty certain you won’t find them pissed in their England gear at a wedding party come Saturday night.
