“An awful lot of us would nearly admire him for it.”
The infamous ‘Hand of Back.’ If you’ve no idea what we’re talking about, just ask any Munster fan and they should be able to bring you up to speed on it rather quickly.
Depending on what side you’r on it’s either a moment of absolute genius, or a disgusting act of cheating. The latter side of the coin is made up mostly of Munster fans and understandably so.
Whether or not anything would of came from the scrum had Back not got involved, will forever remain a mystery, as will the bitterness that Munster fans have with how the game ended.
Stringer however, doesn’t hold any hard feelings.
“It’s just one of these things, Ive done it in the past, you’ve (Donncha) done things in the past where you try and get away with it” Stringer told BT Sport.
O’Callaghan seems to feel the same. He reckons if Back played for Munster the fans would have loved what he did and that’s just how it goes. You have to do whatever it takes to win.
“It seems to be the thing Munster fans look to as the reason we didn’t win it. But if Neil Back was in our team and did that we’d love him” O’Callaghan said.
“Sometimes you have to bend the rules, you’ve to do whatever it takes.”
