Dave Kilcoyne On The Game That Propelled Munster’s Amazing Season
What a season Munster are having.
This time last year the southern province were out of Europe and fighting in the PRO12 to just be included in this year’s tournament. Fast forward twelve months and they’re second in the league, fighting for a home semi-final with a Champions Cup semi in Dublin to look forward to Saturday week.
Tomorrow Ulster come to down in what could be Thomond Park’s last game of the season if the northern province get their way. Les Kiss’ men will be looking to creep into the top four themselves, potentially pushing Munster out of the home semi-final spots.
Prop Dave Kilcoyne spoke to the Limerick Leader this week and revealed it was Munster’s away win against Ulster earlier in the season that propelled their amazing season.
“We often refer back to that game. Ulster is one of the hardest places to get a win and I think that was a changing point in our season,” he added.
“I think lads built real confidence from it and I think it propelled us into the position we are in today. To dig out the win was amazing for us and it really built belief in the squad – it was definitely a changing point for us.”
Munster will no doubt be hoping that a win this weekend could potentially propel them to two finals.
