Pat Lam has drafted in two more players to combat his injury crisis.

The western province moved to bring in centre Tom Farrell yesterday, and also brought in recently retired former Munster prop John Andress. Formerly of Lansdowne, Farrell came through the Leinster Academy but left the province last summer to join Bedford. The 23-year-old has represented Ireland at U20 level and made 12 appearances this season for the English side.

Lam has now dipped into the market again with the announcement that Irish outhalf Steve Crosbie and prop Peter McCabe have both signed short-term deals with the province. The 23-year-old Crosbue has been with Munster most recently, having joined the southern province on a three-month development contract in October, but did not make a senior appearance.

Crosbie originally came through the Leinster academy, making two senior appearances for the province, but did not secure a senior contract. He then moved to New Zealand last year to play Heartland Championship rugby for Wanganui.

Peter McCabe came through the Munster Academy, signing his first professional deal at the start of this season. He has one senior appearance for Munster and joins Connacht on loan .
