Connacht Centre Ruled Out For Remainder Of Season With Worrying Injury

Dave McSharry and Eoin Griffin 23/11/2013

Connacht centre Dave McSharry has been ruled out of rugby for the rest of the season after suffering multiple concussions.

McSharry suffered four concussions in 2015, the most recent occurring in December. Connacht confirmed the news with this website on their statement:

Having sustained a number of concussions in the past 12 months, Dave McSharry has been reviewed by a specialist. He has been advised to undertake a period of rest from the game for the remainder of the current season.

Dave, who has a contract with Connacht for next season, will continue to train in a non-contact capacity with the squad.

McSharry’s situation is similar to that of Johnny Sexton, who removed himself from rugby for 12 weeks before last year’s Six Nations having suffered four concussions in 2014. It’s another in a long list of concussion related injuries for rugby in recent times.
