Clean Sweep For Ireland As Munster & Leinster Progress To Champions Cup Semi-Finals

Munster and Leinster are both through to the semi-final stages of the Champions Cup.

Leinster kicked off proceedings today with an emphatic 32-17 win over Wasp with Joey Carbery stealing the show from fullback at the Aviva.

Tries from Isa Nacewa, Jack Conan, Robbie Henshaw and Fergus McFadden ensured Leinster are back where they belong and that’s fighting for European gold.

Wasps fought back at times, with some excellent scores from Christian Wade and former Leinster playmaker Jimmu Gopperth. But it was Willie Le Roux’s calamity in the 24th minute that summed up their day at the Aviva.

Munster on the other hand had to fight much harder for their win in Limerick, with Toulouse not letting up in the first-half, hanging on 13-9 going in at half-time. John Ryan went in for the meat pie and Munster’s only try in the first-half.

CJ Stander crashed over early in the second-half, before Toulouse fought back with try of their own from Perez. A really questionable decision here with the pass leading up blatantly forward.

Darren Sweetnam sealed tie with a great score in the corner thanks to a monstrous hit by Jaco Taute, before Andrew Conway put the icing on the cake with a very late score.

Full-time:
Leinster 32-17 Wasps
Munster 41-16 Toulouse
