Brian O’Driscoll Reveals Text He Sent To Irish Star After Being Omitted By Lions

It’s pretty safe to say Brian O’Driscoll is a Garry Ringrose fan.

The former Ireland and Lions captain has been singing the young Leinster centre’s praise ever since he first burst onto the scene with his province. O’Driscoll was one of the first men to beg Schmidt to call Ringrose up to the Ireland squad and it eventually worked.

He also called for Gatland to call him up to the Lions squad, and like Schmidt he ignored his plea first time round. But O’Driscoll is confident, like Schmidt, Gatland will eventually come round and call Ringrose up to his squad.

O’Driscoll says Ringrose is a man for all seasons and a player he would love to have alongside him if he was a 12.

“He is the man for all seasons,” O’Driscoll told The Daily Telegraph
“He’s fast over the ground. He has all the attributes to be a brilliant centre. He backs it up both ways; enjoying defence almost as much as attack. He’s a player I would love to have alongside me if I was a 12.”

When asked if he thinks Ringrose will end up in New Zealand at some stage, BOD revealed that he sent the young star a text to let him know, there’s a long way to go yet.

“I sent him a text when the squad was announced saying I knew he would be really disappointed but there was a long way to go yet. A lot can change in two months.”
